Q: Will you pick up food I've collected?
A: We are happy to schedule a truck pick up when needed, but it is a great help to us if you can drop off your donation of food at our warehouses (on 2220 Shop Road in Columbia and 2513 W. Lucas St. in Florence and 5200 Pelham Road Ste. A in Greenville.) During the holiday season our warehouse gets very busy. Please call us at least one week in advance of when you would like a pick up.
Q: What are your hours of operation?
A: Columbia Location: Our warehouse is open Monday-Friday, 7:30am - 3:30 pm. They will receive donations of food from 8:00am-3:00pm. Our administrative office is open Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm. Please call us if you are unable to get to our warehouse during these hours.
Florence Location: Warehouse is open Monday-Friday, 7:30am - 3:30 pm. Donations are accepted during these hours. If you have any questions call our office at (843) 661-0826.
Q: How do I get to Harvest Hope?
A: We are located at 2220 Shop Road, near the intersection of Shop and South Beltline. If you take I-77 we are at Exit 6 (going towards Charleston) or Exit 6B (going towards Charlotte.) Turn right off of exit 6, or continue going straight off of exit 6B. We are less than a mile down Shop Road on your right.
If you are coming from downtown, take Assembly Street towards Williams-Brice Stadium. Veer left on to Shop Road just before the Stadium. We are about 3 miles down on the left.
Florence Location: Located on Hwy 52 on the Pee Dee Farmer's Market property. Near Florence-Darlington Tech.
A: Volunteers are the heart of Harvest Hope and are always welcome! We rely on our volunteers in many areas: in Product Rescue to sort, clean and repackage food; in the Emergency Food Pantry to conduct client interviews, answer telephones and package food; and in the community during special events and food drives. Our dedicated volunteers allow us to operate efficiently and maintain a minimal paid staff. For individual and group volunteer opportunities, please contact Edna Bowers, Volunteer Director at 254-4432 ext. 115.
Florence location: contact Patsy Sawyer, Community/Agency Relations Manager at (803) 661-0826.
Q: Do you have volunteer opportunities on the weekends?
A: Our hours of operations are Monday through Friday but we occasionally have special events that require volunteers on weekends. While we strive to accommodate as many volunteers as possible, our small number of paid staff does not allow us to open every weekend. Please look at our calendar of events and then call Edna Bowers, Volunteer Director at 254-4432 ext. 115 if there is a weekend event for which you would like to volunteer. Florence location contact Patsy Sawyer.
Q: I hunt. Can I donate that meat?
A: Yes! As long as the meat goes through an approved processor we are happy to take it. Those processors are: Brice Corbitts County Market (Cayce,) Peach Orchards Processing (Dalzell,) or 601 Deer Processing (Ft. Motte.) You may also call BUCKMASTERS for more information.
Q What documentation should I bring to Harvest Hope's Food Pantry if I am in need of food?
A: In order to receive all of the products available through our different programs you must show:
- A photo ID
- Social security cards for every member of your household
If you are not able to meet these requirements please call our main number and someone from our food pantry will be happy to speak with you.
