When an FDA-regulated product is either defective or potentially harmful, recalling that product—removing it from the market or correcting the problem—is the most effective means for protecting the public. In most cases, a recall results from an unintentional mistake by the coMarch 9, 2011 - mpany, rather than from an intentional disregard for the law.
Feeding America and USDA sends an email noting recalled items to designated food bank staff. The partnering agency will receive an email, and/or phone call immediately if a recall affects product they may have received from the food bank. Partnering agencies MUST in turn call all clients who received recalled product with instructions as to how to properly dispose of the recalled product.
