General Information

Is your organization a non-profit (501(c)3 status) or a church?

Kids Cafes must be operated by non-profit organizations or churches

  
   
Does your site have a kitchen?

If you plan to prepare food at a remote site and transport the food to your after school program, the remote kitchen must have DHEC approval and you must have an approved method of transport.

  
   
Does your kitchen have DHEC approval to serve food?

Do any of your program staff members have a current/valid safe food handler's certification?
Will your after-school program provide FREE meals?

Some after-school programs may charge a membership fee for participation. This fee should be nominal with opportunities for scholarships or waivers for those unable to pay. This membership fee should not be tied in any way to the meals. Meals or food must be provided free of charge.

  
Will children of any race or religious background be allowed to enroll in your program?

Children cannot be excluded from participating on the basis of race or religion.

You must agree to have an adult (staff or volunteers) to child ratio of a minimum of 2 adults for the first 25 children at all times that the Kids Cafe program is operational. If there are greater than 25 children, the number of additional adults will be determined by Harvest Hope and your program's administration.
Approximately how many volunteers will you have (on each day of operation)?
Do you require your staff and/or volunteers to pass a National Background Search?
Do you have the resources to offer enrichment activities as follows: Nutrition Education a minimum of once per month or nine lessons a year; academic and/or recreational activity each day the Kids Cafe is open?
