Columbia’s Greek FestivalDecember 15, 2015
Over the years the Columbia Greek Festival hosted by the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral on Sumter Street has grown to be one of the most anticipated celebrations here in Columbia. There is just something awesome about the atmosphere of the yearly event! The culture, the food, the people and the shopping associated with the celebration are all amazing.
Throwing fun, family oriented events is not all this faith based organization does. Did you know that the Columbia Greek Festival has also given approximately $400,000 to charities? This year, they are giving more than $60,000 to support the community!
We had the opportunity to visit with some nice folks today at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral. We were totally floored with excitement when we saw the $10K check that they wrote for us. It's really encouraging when an organization like this one makes a big donation to our cause!
“We wanted to support Harvest Hope because of their significant contribution to the thousands of individuals impacted by floods this year,” said Niki Stewart, co-chair of the Columbia Greek Festival. “All of our blessings and gifts are from God. This is the one way that we can serve and honor Him.”
