Costco and Feeding America Provide $20,000 for Mobile Pantries

November 16, 2016

Harvest Hope Food Bank received $20,000 from Feeding America and Costco to provide for the purchase of food for Mobile Food Pantries (MFPs) across Harvest Hope’s 20 county territory. The grant provided by the organizations will be enough for over 67,000 meals for those struggling with hunger.

Across South Carolina, more than one in six individuals faces food insecurity, and one in four children face hunger on a daily basis. In some counties, one in three children struggle with hunger, meaning that they have missed at least one meal in the last month. Harvest Hope provides meals for approximately 38,000 individuals a week, a number which is only increased during disasters such as Hurricane Matthew.

“We’re so grateful for this grant which will help us reach out to some of the most vulnerable among us,” said Denise Holland, CEO of Harvest Hope. “So many parents struggle to feed their children and themselves, it’s a blessing to be able to help those in need and we couldn’t do it without our corporate partners such as Costco.”
