TEGNA Foundation Provides $5,000 for Pack-2-Feed Program

November 18, 2016

Harvest Hope Food Bank received $5,000 from the TEGNA Foundation to provide for the Pack-2Feed program in Richland County. The grant provided by the organizations will be enough for over 10,000 meals for those struggling with hunger.

In Richland County, more than one in six individuals faces food insecurity, and one in four children face hunger on a daily basis. Harvest Hope provides meals for approximately 38,000 individuals a week, and as the holidays approach, the need will only increase. The Pack-2-Feed program provides low and moderate income families with boxes that contain 21 servings of food.

“It surprises people that so many people go hungry even in one of the more well of counties in the state,” said Denise Holland, CEO of Harvest Hope. “Grants like this are critical to helping families who are in crises gain some stability and to ensure that children don’t go to sleep hungry.”
