Volunteer Opportunities are Available at all Harvest Hope Branches

Harvest Hope utilizes 10,000 volunteers a year in order to keep operations running at our facilities. Last year, volunteers put in more than 65,000 hours of service, allowing the organization to invest over $1 million back into food sourcing and distribution!

How Do I Become a Volunteer?

>> Once you have created a profile, you will be prompted to complete an application and waiver.

>> Please note that volunteers in our facilities could handle many different types of food during their shift. If you have a food allergy, let us know on your volunteer application. We will do our best to provide you with an alternate opportunity. 



What are the volunteer requirements?
  • Must be 11 years of age or older. (Ages 11-15 must be accompanied by an adult. 16+ may volunteer on their own.)
  • Must complete a volunteer application.
  • Must complete a volunteer orientation.
  • Must complete a safety waiver.

All requirements can be completed online when a volunteer is first registered.

Can my group come and volunteer?

Absolutely! We welcome groups in sizes of 5 to 25 and ages 11 and up. Please complete the Group Volunteer Interest Form and someone will be in touch soon.

Can I complete my court ordered community service hours at Harvest Hope?

Yes, on a case by case basis. Please complete the Court Ordered Community Service Form and someone will review your request and be in touch within 1-3 business days.

What should I wear to my volunteer shift?

We recommend you wear comfortable clothing and shoes. All volunteers are required to wear closed toe and closed heel shoes. Please be aware that all of our locations are working warehouses which means the indoor temperatures are going to reflect the outdoor temperatures.

What are the volunteer positions?

Product Rescue
  • Volunteers will help inspect and sort the various donations that come in to make sure the food is safe for clients.
  • Volunteers could be sorting produce, meat, or bagging up dry goods. 
  • After quality control, the food will be sorted into categories and packed into the respected packaging to match our agencies' online orders. 
  • Volunteers must be age 11 or older.
  • This job requires standing, bending, and lifting about 25-50 lbs.
Emergency Food Pantry
  • Volunteers will work in one of our many roles in the Emergency Food Pantry depending on where they are most needed.  
    • Volunteers could be loading shopping carts for clients.
    • Volunteers could be helping clients shop our client choice market.
    • Volunteers could be loading the food into the trunks of the client’s cars, signing in clients, or directing traffic.
  • Volunteers must be age 11 or older to work inside and 15 or older to work outside.
  • Volunteers will be walking, bending, and lifting items up to 25 lbs.
Emergency Food Pantry - Intake
  • This position requires the volunteer to conduct a face-to-face interview with our clients to collect general household information and enter it in our database. 
  • Intake volunteers may work inside at our computer areas or outside helping immobile clients. 
  • Intake volunteer must be Link2Feed trained.  
  • Volunteers should be good with technology and have general knowledge of how Harvest Hope Food Bank operates.
  • Volunteers must be age 18 or older.
Agency Distribution
  • Volunteers will assist agencies in loading their vehicles.
  • Volunteers can help keep our Agency Distribution area clean and neat.
  • Volunteers can help process paperwork and filing.
  • Assist unloading food donation items from vehicles and writing donation receipts.
  • Volunteers must be able to lift 25-50 lbs.
  • Volunteers must be age 15 or older.
Community Access Sorting and Packing
  • Depending on the time of the month and on our inventory, volunteers will help fill food boxes for our Harvest to Home boxes, Diabetic box, Senior Box Program, or Backpack Program, or any other packaging needed. 
  • This job requires standing, bending, and lifting about 10-25 lbs.
  • Volunteers must be age 11 or older.
Administrative Volunteer
  • Help with administrative task such as writing thank you notes, entering data, and greeting volunteers.
